Listening?

If the year was over right this second and someone asked, "What was your favorite record of 2007?" I would have to say the new album from Husky Rescue, Ghost is Not Real. Fucking amazing.

and that webpage is pretty fucking brilliant too. These kids are for real.

Grey here

Rock out.

Something for this welcomed rain. Color against the stale light. Still dripping too much to shoot, but I am anxious.

Shake it loose

Gotta do this when you start thinking about fat rabbits.

Using the backs of people's heads for composition is a new skill I'd rather not learn. It's better being lucky. When you think I'm gonna shoot, duck down!

Busy as

Painting tonight at The Lure. Fo reals, I think. Should go find brushes, still. May not matter. I'm not good, but I will have fun.

oh and The Jimi Austin killed it with a 6 or 7 song quickset @ The Marquis Theater. I was there, see?

Yet another reason

Check out the Ad Generator!

I can think of at least 3 sales-types that I have worked with that would slobber over it, thinking it the real thing. In fact, if I looked and acted like this, they would probably want to hire me(back).

Whatever, I think it's tasty-timely-cool.

Somehow

I have stopped thinking in my artist-mind. I mean the real shit. The stuff I'm too scared to show anyone. Too scared to do. Too out of touch with it to let it manifest.

Making good

Simon of The Jimi Austin, or at least his bass.

mini-flashback

I've blogged about my love of music. I've even been lucky enough to have photographed some amazing musicians in the time I have tried to do so. I am lucky, it seems, in this endeavor.

So tomorrow night, I will be able to be there for one my favorites. Jolie Holland will be performing tomorrow night at the Soiled Dove Underground and I've been granted some credentials. She has one of the best voices in music today in my opinion. At the risk of repeating myself, she whistles better than most people sing.

So if you're free and within 100 miles or so, you should check the show. You won't be disappointed.

Don't mess with it

One thing about this new camera, it's got some really good color to it right on the sensor. A little tweak here and there and you've got a lot to work with, even with flash, which I really don't like.

Honestly, you could have put an old pinhole camera in front of Madeline and it would have come out smokin' hot. That guitar, that girl and that voice could break a thousand hearts on this tour.

All in all a great night of music with Porlolo, Bad Weather California, Blue Book and of course, Madeline Adams filling up the bar-centric Lion's Lair. The place was flush with talent and appreciative patrons, myself included. Big thanks to Madeline for the opportunity and everyone else for standing relatively still. Hope I didn't cross your eyes.

First off

Hot off the presses of last night's Tokyo Police Club Show in Denver. The boys rocked it. Good luck on the rest of the tour guys!

Sara strikes again!

This time it's a compilation disk called Constant Elevation. Anyone heard of it? I recognize three of the artists. Two of them are on the same track which leaves me barely familiar with two, count em, TWO tracks. I am a visual person. I can recognize the cover at the very least if I've seen it before. Not a shred of familiarity there.

and it's bloody good.

Sara the shy librarian, I like you, a lot.

Either that or I like placing library CD's on hold for myself while smashed out of my gourd.

Whatever.

Hope is a mailbox

John Vanderslice - Hi Dive, Denver - 2005

1/2 things arrived today that I really was looking forward to. Tomorrow's post controls most of tomorrow's consumption. I'll be holding my breath. It's not quite rock and roll, but it's damn close.

Countdown.

The Nature of the Experiment

I may be away tomorrow. In fact, I mean to. I think 'server maintenance' means the tracking software, or whatever it is they are intending to do is operational. So that means I will be ignoring the little firefox icon. It won't be easy.

So I'm leaving you with a couple things. One a picture I think is pretty cool. It's kind of that 'pulling my soul away from me' kind of thing to it. i dunno. Remind me to just seriously start shooting with the Yashica all the time. Maybe I resist because I think it's magic and I don't want to waste it.

I also have something you may not have heard of but really should. In case you're new, I'm really into music. Really. So when I find something that I immediately go out and buy the next day, literally hours after I have heard track one, well, it's kindof a big deal for me. Off I went to Twist and Shout, a local kick-ass record store that used to have the CD music in another bulding entirely, across the street. Good thing is now they are merged, bad thing is it's still fucking cramped in there and now it's further away. Further or farther?. I can never remember that and really I can't be bothered right now. It's past my bedtime and I need to be extra lazy tomorrow to make up for all the productivity that will be flowing through me. So it's Tokyo Police Club. Those of you with a finger on the pulse of the amazingly productive Toronto music scene have no doubt heard of them. For everyone else, check the video, check the mp3's on the site and then go buy the EP. Very heavy rotation. So go, enjoy. I'll try to check in the evening.
