Pirates in the News
It's over, people. Let it go.
Adding the word pirate as an adjective to everything is getting extremely tired and boring. I feel that there are at least two good exceptions to this statement.
1. Space Pirate Ninjas
2. Actual pirates that do actual pirate shit in the present.
Exception #1 is obviously staggeringly cool and I think the concept of #2 is criminal and unapprovingly cool.
For the record: I think I made up 'unapprovingly' and I also typed 'the concept of #2'.
Put it in the books.

Muted but Hireable

I haven't much to say for myself lately. I have been working on things like this. Dreaming small and big. Next thing you know, there may be a darkroom in my basement. There may even be potential for developing and printing classes.

Layout
Been working on design-type things today. I'm feeling heavily influenced by [nice]typography and the flyer I made shows it. 'Course I don't know if it's good typography, but it feels all right to me. Which is good enough. Whether it's all in my head or not, sometimes things just don't feel right.

Are You Experienced?

Lots of thoughts on Velvia100 & LC-A. Yes, this means it's here and has been put through it's first roll. Auto-doubles and xpro. If there's a button to push, I have a tendancy to want to push it, hard.
- Fresh Velvia is much different than expired Velvia.
- Tungsten light increases the colorization effect of cross-processing drastically.
- I can write a levels adjustment that semi-accurately produces images that one would see on a lab print, if one were so inclined to order prints from the lab instead of scanning themselves. I base this on experience and research, i.e. hours in front of flickr. A machine is a machine is a machine, mostly. Different chemisty affects it in different ways. Your mileage may vary.
- The LC-A is fun but might be scratching the lowers thirds.
- No need to push with 100, freshly doubled. I would push 50 though, shot at 400, in a heartbeat, just to see it.
- The LC-A should have an 800 setting, just because I said so. Apparently the (+) version has higher ASA's.
- Initial testing passes. Might wield this tonight at the John Vanderslice show. You should go.
