Wrapping it up
So far most of the holiday has been spent framing things up and finishing. I need to finish. It's a complete weakness of mine and I have things to prove to myself.
The shows should be set without too much more work. I haven't heard from one of the other people involved for some time now. Hopefully he can put in some work soon and hold things down until I can get there Friday. It will be a busy night and one to look forward to, but I need to finish.
I had a good couple of hours while spinning the vinyl edition of The Postal Service. You can't go wrong with a 2 LP set in white vinyl with all the album art from the singles as well as the CD release, intact, larger, beautiful. In this age of little CD cases or even no cases involved in how we obtain our music, I really am drawn to the LP with it's larger format for the artwork. and the sound, the warm crackling analog pop or comfotable imperfection. This idea is supremely present in the vinyl release of pixel revolt. Seriously layered lush sonic goodness. It nearly brings tears to one's eyes. I can plop down on the floor with a great pair of headphones and listen to every perfect flaw in that record. He hides things sonically in there that not only can you not hear on CD, but you get extra tracks too. Fan rant over, just go get it at Barsuk, if there's any left. I believe mine was hand numbered at 131/500, first press. go now. Feel free to pick up some DCFC or anything Jesse Sykes has put her voice to. Worth every penny.
I'd really like to be able to do some LP covers for bands I am into some day. I have no clue how to even get started on that with the exception of submitting random designs to the 2 or 3 people I barely am aquainted with "in the industry". I'll take advice on this and most subjects.
I am:
Leaning towards content.
Feeling stronger.
Confidence mostly intact.
Still can't figure out how to take compliments without the constant second-guessing and the 'they are just saying that to be nice or they are my friends and they feel they should say that."
Better than most.
Certainly more spoiled than I'd care to believe.
Moderately focused.
Speaking of which..back to the matte cutting. Learn and do at the same time.
ciao.
