Social Yummies
Slammed Saturday:
Coffee with the kids at Monkey Bean and a seriously cool mansion that's to be torn down next week. 12 new units for insane prices but beautifully done and decorated by Crystal and her company. SO the thing is getting gutted and we decided to begin some salvage. Should make for some nice things for the upcoming show...
Speaking of which, working on spec never changes.
They give little to no direction and poof -it's wrong. Ok, it's wrong, but I like to win. I like the oohs and aaahs to be immediate but working on spec almost never ever does that. Oh well, when they need me I suppose they will get me, right? My design was a great excersise for me in a flat style I have always wanted to do so I got what I needed out of it. I got to flex.
Saturday afternoon goes on to some great BBQ and of course amazing beer at the Breckenridge Brewery 10th anniversary party. Cameras in hand, of course, but especially nice was the piece I did for my show in September that was given a place of honor. Hopefully I can continue to hang things there from time to time and get down to some serious work there. They love me like family and I don't want to let that go. No need to.
Met BCD and friend there for a quick bite and a couple beers so that we could peel off to the next assignment. The Shoe Ball, with entertainment by favorites, The Yummies, who invited us there. (Thanks Ray!) I have never shot an event like this. The payment was getting in as no way could I donate the ticket fee. A great benefit for the Museum of Contemporary Art, to be sure. So I'm supporting the cause I think. I know the Corazon flowed like water and BCD and I tag-teamed everything we could. I even shot with my crappy Kodak Digital because I was burning through film and some sort of reality started to leak in. It's called, who the hell is going to pay for all this film to be developed!? Oh yeah, me.
Loved it up with the beautiful people and TheYummies for a great night, great drinks and I didn't even hit up the food. Met some cool people though and got to people watch some serious socialites doing seriously watchable socialite things in some pretty serious shoes. There's a certain level of appeal there. They happen to be doing something right then that makes them happy and benefits the Arts and I wouldn't ever judge that.
Stay tuned for something other than crappy Koda-digi and lets hope some of this stuff finds it's way into the hands of someone who wants to finance a sweet little D200 and watch my artful? photo career bloom.
But I'm never going to give up film. ever. It's an beautifully imprintable medium that contains heart and soul.
Usually mine.
