ok, still here in phoenix, but this is my last night. I've met the brothers' girlfriends and they seem very nice and girlfriendish..? Ok whatever. but it has been a great trip for my soul. We just finished making tamales, a very traditional thing to do for the Hispanic blood pumping through my veins. I'm also part Chiricaua tribe, Apache, but unfortunately know nothing about those traditions. Since we would not have been on a gregorian calendar, or know anything related to the version of xmas prevalent today, I would guess we would have had some type of tribal fire and dancing during the winter solstice. Woship of the heavens was prevalant throughout many Native American Tribes, warring or peaceful. This reminds me of how my grandfather taught me about telling the next 2 days of weather through the rings around the moon. There was a lot of romance to the ideals he showed and taught me. Most of all, this makes me realize how much I miss him.

Yes! Rings around the moon are fantastic. Remind me to tell you my crazy story about that.
Glad you got some family culture in you. I think I did too. And I think THAT is the reason for these holidays...
