How dare you?

Here it is, kids. The day I never realized could come. I am popping my meme cherry right here in front of everybody. This one is for smart people who read tons and remember what they read. Apparently I used to read a lot as a kid, then came legos, then computers. Oddly enough, Adobe Classroom in a Books don't seem to be what we're going for here.

Without further ado or self-deprecation, I present to you: Book Meme. Sent to me by barlyru, who should now owe me something I think.

ONE BOOK YOU WOULD WANT ON A DESERT ISLAND: SAS Survival Handbook: How to survive in the Wild, in Any CLimate, on Land or at Sea.

ONE BOOK YOU HAVE READ MORE THAN ONCE: I can't remember ever doing this except for children's books which surprisingly have not filled this entire meme. I will say Star Wars Pop-Up book. I must have made Luke hop across the chasm with Leia on various (repaired) threads a thousand times. I just wore that damn thing out.

ONE BOOK THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE: Anatomy for the Artist. Amazing Illustrations that I was forced to copy at great length over many many hours aside from the life-drawing class it was assigned in. It taught me that not only is drawing able to be taught as a skill (that nearly everyone can do) but the hard work paid off. I was able to see a vast improvement in my technique and form and was proud enough to include a lot of it in a flat portfolio as some of my best work ever during art school.

ONE BOOK THAT MADE YOU LAUGH: Post Office - Bukowski

ONE BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY: My Calc-2 textbook in engineering school. It's possible that there is a cost-to-cry ratio present.

ONE BOOK YOU WISH HAD BEEN WRITTEN: A strategy guide, like they make for video games, that shows the various maps and how-tos of my life. It would include all the pitfalls and how to avoid or get out of them as well as the special items and bosses, etc...It should also include "How to get the best ending".

ONE BOOK YOU WISH HAD NEVER BEEN WRITTEN: Any of the 'Whatever it is FOR DUMMIES' series. I'm not pleased with the thought of having to pre-degrade myself to begin a learning process. Plus they stole the Fido Dido character didn't they? Is that nerd licensed or what?

ONE BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING: Camera Lucida - Beutiful interpretation of photography that helps me see things differently when I get behind the camera.

ONE BOOK YOU'VE BEEN MEANING TO READ: Primitive Photography: A Guide to Making Cameras, Lenses, and Calotypes or The Adventures of Captain Underpants, which my 5 yr-old neighbor gave me when I graduated college and I keep forgetting about.

ONE BOOK YOU'RE GLAD YOU OWN: Oh The Places You'll Go - Dr Seuss -My grandparents gave me this when I graduated high school. I read it at least 5 times on the bus for my senior trip. It's awesome. I got smirks from cIassmates but I hated most of them by then anyway.

ONE BOOK WHICH MUST BE READ ALOUD: The Velveteen Rabbit.

I hope you're happy, Lisa!

Congrats! It is done and now you don't have to think about it any more. That Stars Wars book sounds like fun. And I'm intrigued with Camera Lucida.

See, it wasn't that hard.

Whatever. You didn't have to look at your bookshelf and shake your head at the insane ratio of pictures vs. words. You'd love Camera Lucida, go liberry it. Yes, I know it's library...
