Sell me your idea...
I hate the feeling that I have to go in and prove the value of the tools I am requesting. I understand putting money where it is most important. I understand it better than the person who just bought a fleet of leather chairs for god-knows-what sitting here in the building. Apparently there will be a lot more people sitting down around here. We will double our workforce and they will be directed to sit in these nice things, apparrently. See, all I want is a Wacom for one of our Illustrators, move my machine to print server / render-slave capabilities and update me with a new system that doesn't incorporate 4-5 year old tech in order to drive 4 month old software. That's where I'd spend my money. Tools that increase speed, efficiency and knowledge seem very important to me, not appearances.
Jay mentioned in her blog the idea that blogs hold "a multitude of evidence". She's very right. I propose the idea that while it is best to keep one's mouth shut in certain situations, what if we lived a little nearer to the truth and a little less on eggshells sometimes? Would we be happier? Would "diplomacy" take a massive dive? I'm not saying be rude, but I am saying maybe try being more honest, more truthful. 'Diplomacy' in it's purer forms is 'politics', whose bastions include charisma and leadership and sometimes even deception. These are the things ultimately required to get someone to do something that they don't want to do. It begin to sound a lot like manipulation and then this list spirals into lots of things we don't normally like being called. So I think that sometimes the truth really effing hurts. Healing hurts, change hurts..where is this all going? That's a big question. I just wanted to test the theory of being a little more honest with ourselves and our friends and maybe I chose to offset my honesty (that could be interpreted as less than polite) with extra helpings of empathy, support and love. That is what I want to work for me right now.
Thoughts from the ether?

The ether asks: What is the point of a public blog which holds the truth? Why would you lay yourself open to that? Everyone's private thoughts are a different beast from their public ones no matter how hard they try. It's a good thing to chew on.
commentary inspires new blog. See Jan 30 please.
