Bloody saturated!
The above photo is from a set of double exposures and cross-processing that I did with a very talented friend of mine named Mabelle Teh. I shot my layer here in Denver of 'Fall'. Since she doesn't really have seasons in Petaling Jaya, she thought it would be a cool double with her home architecture and area. Unfortunately, my layer was dominating, which sometimes happens with AGFA RSX-II and x-pro. By the way AGFA has left the building (damnit)and their films are ever more rare. Not a happy customer here.
SO, Mabelle has always done this great super-saturated contrasty stuff and now I think I see how some of it happens. When you scan your own film you being to notice that pro-lab film scanner operators tend to push the living guts out of photographs in order to please their normal soccer-mom customers. See mum wants to see the almost-fake bright-in-the-eyes-of-god RED that she thinks in on her 4 yr old's jersey as he goes from ballpack to ballpack all game long. Whatever it is, Mabelle's lab prints them this way and that's just fine with me. I like my eyes to bleed every once in a while and I love that it didn't happen in photoshop. For a big faker like me, that's even too much fake. Film is somewhat sacred. You must know this about me.
